Mr. Edward "Ed" Lane, 89 of Lakeshore Circle, Hartwell GA, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016 at St. Mary's Hospital, Athens.

Born on March 26, 1927 in Steger IL, he was the son of the late Edward Lane Sr. and Geneva Noel Lane.Mr. Lane was Owner – Operator of L & J Hardware and Convenience Store.He was also a retired Field Service Manager for Hobart Commercial Restaurant Equipment and a WWII U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Lane was a member of the American Legion #109, St. Luke's United Church of Christ and attended Sharon Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife: Delphene Ostermeyer Lane; his daughter: Joy Jenkins and her husband David of Hartwell; his brother: Clarence "Guy" Lane of Hartwell; two grandchildren: Amber Jenkins and Christopher Jenkins and his wife Christine and their son: Lane Jenkins.Mr. Lane was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers: George Lane and Bobby Lane and two sisters: Mildred Kelley and Genevieve Cameli.

Memorial services will be Sunday, May 15, 2016 at 1:00 p.m.at the Sharon Presbyterian Church with military honors.A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boy Scout Troop # 33, 5135 Mt. Olivet Road, Lavonia GA 30553
