Obituary
Mr. Edward Wesley "Ed" Spurlock, 78, of Hartwell, passed away Friday, November 2, 2018 at Hartwell Health & Rehab.
Born on March 23, 1940 in Van WV, he was the son of the late Harrison Spurlock and Dolis Guthrie Spurlock.Mr. Spurlock was a graduate of the Van High School and the Northern Virginia Community College.He was retired from the Department of Defense, where he was a computer analyst.He also enjoyed reading, watching sports and computers.Mr. Spurlock was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, American Legion and was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his wife: Anita Thornton Spurlock, a daughter: Shannon Spurlock of Denver CO; a step-daughter: Anesha Lee of Patterson GA; a step-son: Dwayn Fulton of Blackshear GA; two sisters: Carrie Spurlock and Mary Bowlby both of Seattle WA; two brothers: Arthur Spurlock of Carnesville GA and Dual Spurlock of Prairie Farm WI; one grandchild; four step-grandchildren and 1 step-great grandchild also survives.Mr. Spurlock was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Howard, Lawrence and Clarence Spurlock and four sisters: Jeanette Dunlap, Betty Peace, Ann Hamblin and Vickie Lee.
A memorial service celebrating Ed's life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Webb and Mr. Leslie Boles officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, In Memory of Mr. Ed Spurlock, 2953 Mt. Olivet Road, Hartwell GA 30643.
