Mr. Edward Byrum, 86, of South College Ave., Hartwell, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Hart Care Center.

Born on December 18, 1930 in Hartwell GA, he was the son of the late Fletcher Byrum and Ethel Hall Byrum.Mr. Byrum retired from Tenneco after 33 years of service.He also was a past member of the Hartwell First Presbyterian Church where he served as deacon and attended Hartwell Church of God. Mr. Byrum was a US Army veteran. He enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and cruising around town talking to his many friends.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years: Janie McKern Byrum; two sons: Randy Byrum (Debra) of Elberton, Tony Byrum (Elaine) of Canon; one brother: Ray Byrum of Bowersville; two sisters: Betty Bridges of Anderson, Mae Brown of Carnesville; four grandchildren: Jason Byrum (Melissa), Kristin Gorrell (Shane), Trenton Byrum (Erica Yates), Paul Mitchell (Stephanie) and eight great-grandchildren.Mr. Byrum was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Broadus Byrum; and three sisters: Blanche Koke, Faye McKern, and Vinelle White.

Funeral services will be Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Lonnie Bennett and Rev. Johnny Stowe officiating.Entombment will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday evening.The family is at their respective homes. Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to the Hartwell Church of God, 120 Race Street, Hartwell, GA 30643.
