Mrs. Edna (Miller) Pruitt, age 84, of Lavonia, died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at her home.
Born July 24, 1927 in Carnesville, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Eppie (Adams) Miller. She retired from Carwood Manufacturing as a seamstress. In retirement she owned and operated Pruitt's Greenhouse. Mrs. Pruitt was a member of Hopewell Presbyterian Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sons: Danny Crowe and James "Tooney" Miller; great-grandson: Andrew Mitchell; brothers: Jim Miller, Phil Miller, and Bill Miller; and sister: Nell Kesler.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years: Jack Pruitt; daughter & son-in-law: Polly and Harry Mitchell of Lavonia; son: Mike Pruitt of Atlanta; brother: Guyton Miller of Toccoa; and grandchildren: Scott Mitchell, Kim Bruce, Ginger Kirk, Brad Miller, Lisa Crowe, Jennifer Miller; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Courtney Umbehant officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
