Mrs. Edna (Cleveland) Carter Pruitt, age 89, of Lavonia, died Wednesday, January 4, 2017 at her home.
Born December 25, 1927, in Hart County she was the daughter of the late Otis and Berta (Brown) Cleveland. She was a graduate of Hart County High school and worked as a retail sales clerk for Wilson's Sporting Goods and Wilbank's Pharmacy. Mrs. Pruitt was a member of Lavonia United Methodist Church where she served on several volunteer committees.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law: Kirby and Laura Carter of Lilburn and Keith and Judy Carter of Martin; daughter: Kay Pruitt Norris of Hart County; grandchildren: Lee Carter (Paige), Taylor Carter, Sarah Carter, Tanya Bidwell, Todd Hill, Christopher Norris and Craig Norris, great grandchildren: Jazmyn and Khloee Carter and Kyra Norris; sister and brother-in-law: Pat Bradford and Bruce of Hartwell. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two husbands: Mack A. Carter, Jr. and Robert K. Pruitt, Jr.; a daughter: Eugenia Pruitt; and her brother: Jack Cleveland.
The funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. in Cokesbury UMC Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday afternoon beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the funeral hour. At other hours the families will be at their respective home.
