Mrs. Edna C. Hackbert Swanson, 94, of 2564 Providence Church Rd., Lavonia, GA, died Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at Hartwell Health Care Center.
Born April 7, 1914 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Henry Hackbert and Sylvia Fredrickson Hackbert.She was a homemaker.
She is survived by:Daughters, Carolyn Walters and her husband Dan of Lavonia, GA and Elaine Peterson of Basking Ridge, NJ; Eight grandchildren, Dale Walters and his wife Susan, Donald Walters, Dawn Walters, Dennis Walters and his wife Judy, Kimberly Swanson Pitman, Gary Peterson, David Peterson and his wife Kimberly and Karen McDermott and her husband Bill; Great grandchildren, Jessica, Mackenzie, Sara, Morgan and Madison Walters and Rachel Pitman, Mason and Darcy McDermott.She is preceded in death by Parents; Husband, Earl C. Swanson; Son, Wayne Swanson;two brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Swanson wished to be cremated and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Her ashes will be buried in the Irving Park Cemetery, Chicago, IL, at a later date.
The family will receive friends 3:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. prior to the service. The family is at the home.Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.
