Mr. Edward Curtis "Ed" Seagraves, 80, of 17 Enchanted Forest Lane, Blairsville, died Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Union General Hospital.
Born on October 8, 1930 in Athens, GA, he was the son of Velma Connolly Seagraves and the late Dewette Seagraves. He was a retired project manager for Daniels Construction, a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, and a US Navy Korean War Veteran.
He is survived by his mother; his wife: Jackie Seagraves; one step-daughter: Sheri Gordon and her husband, Mike, of Hartwell; one sister: Peggy Burton of Monroe; three grandchildren: Dylan Gordon, Aidan Gordon, Logan Gordon; and two step-grandchildren: Jim Haler, and Scott Haler. Mr. Seagraves was preceded in death by his father, first wife: Willie "Frankie" Seagraves; and two sisters: Jeanine Simmons, and Brenda Brue.
Graveside services will be Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Meeks officiating.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home prior to the service.The family is at the home of Sheri and Mike Gordon, 1138 Peachtree Road, Elberton, GA 30635.Memorials may be made out to the American Cancer Society, 1684 Barnett Shoals Road, Athens, GA 30605, or to the charity of one's choice.
