Mr. Edward John Skarzynski, 87, of 1540 Plantation Road, Elberton, GA, died October 21, 2009 at Elbert Memorial Hospital.

Born November 23, 1921 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late Joseph Skarzynski and Marianne Grzeszczuk Skarzynski.He was retired from the U.S. Marine Corps after 21 years of service, Master Sergeant and served in WWII and Korean War.He also retired from Adams Transport Storage in Chamblee.He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, McAllen, Texas.

He is survived by:Wife, Flora Belle Morris Skarzynski of the home; Sons, Edward John Skarzynski, IIand George Dewey Skarzynski both of Elberton, GA; Daughter, Pamela Ann "Pam" Trubell of Elberton, GA; Brother, Matthew Skarzynski of Springlake NJ; Sister, Irene Daley of Port Redding, NJ; Six grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survives.He is preceded in death by his Parents and a Brother, Henry Skarzynski.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.Father Terence Kane will officiate. Burial will be in The Skarzynski Family Cemetery with Full Military Honors.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Monday night from 6 – 8:00 p.m.The family is at the home.Flowers are optional; Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude's Place, Memphis, TN38105.
