Obituary
Mr. Edward Harvey Stephens, 87, of Hartwell, widower of the late Mary Hedden Stephens, died Saturday, April 7, 2012 at Hartwell Healthcare Center.
Born on October 10, 1924 in Johnson City, NY, he was the son of the late Wendell Stephens and Helen Decker Stephens.He retired from the IBM Corporation in Upstate New York as a machinist, was a member of the Sharon Presbyterian Church, and was a US Navy Veteran.
Survivors include two sons:David Stephens of Thomson, GA and Mark Stephens, and his wife Mary of Hartwell, GA; one sister, Beverly Hutchinson of Bloomsburg, PA; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and one daughter, Valerie Perry.
Mr. Stephens requested that his body be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date.His ashes will be interred in his niche at the Sharon Presbyterian Church Memorial Wall next to his wife.
In lieu of flowers, special memorials can be made to the Sharon Presbyterian Church general operating fund at 275 Sharon Church Road, Hartwell, GA30643.
