Mr. Edwin E. "Ed" Cawthorn, 83, of Anderson Highway, passed away Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at his home.

Born on January 18, 1936 in Elm Springs, Arkansas, he was the son of the late Jesse Cawthorn and Elsie Mustain Cawthorn.Mr. Cawthorn was a pilot for Eastern Airlines for twenty-five years and retired as a Captain. Mr. Cawthorn served as an aviator in the United States Air Force and also flew in the Georgia Air National Guard.

Mr. Cawthorn was survived by three sons: Todd Cawthorn (Ashlee) of Dallas, TX, Marc Cawthorn (Stacia) of Hartwell, and Matt Cawthorn of Hartwell; and three grandchildren: Jacob Cawthorn, Cameron Cawthorn, and Evan Cawthorn. Mr. Cawthorn was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Ginger Johnson Cawthorn; one brother: Robert F. Cawthorn; and two sisters: Louise Fleming and Eudora Haydon.

Ed wished to be cremated and a memorial service celebrating his life will be held Sunday, August 4, 2019 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating. A visitation will follow the service.
