Mr. Edwin Berlon Cheek, 75, of 6366 Hwy 17, Canon, died peacefully, Friday, December 14, 2012 at his home.
Born on November 16, 1937 in Canon, GA, he was the son of the late Vergus Cheek and Rema Lois Roe Cheek.He was a sales engineer for Westinghouse/ABB in Athens, GA.Berlon was also a member of Canon Baptist Church, former deacon, and a member of the Bowersville Masonic Lodge #595, and Yaarab Temple Shrine.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine Hart Cheek of the home; a daughter, Lynn Cheek Baker and her husband Richard of Canon; three sons: Tim Cheek of Canon, Keith Cheek and his wife Corine of Bowersville, Chad Cheek and his wife Gale of Canon; one sister, Cecelia Cheek Mewborn of Hartwell; twelve grandchildren: Warren Cheek, Cameron Cheek, Anna Beth Cheek, Ben Cheek, Halle Cheek, Wade Cheek, Daniel Baker, Elaina Baker, Jacob Cheek, Abby Ragsdale, Ali Robertson, Anna Robertson; and one great-grandchild, Elijah Cheek also survives.Mr. Cheek was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, William Cheek.
Funeral services will be Sunday, December 16, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Canon Baptist Church with Rev. Joe Black and Rev. Roger Hardy officiating.The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m.Burial will be in the Oak View Cemetery in Canon.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday.The family is at the home.
