Obituary

Mr. Edwin Walter Long, Jr., of 137 Robinhood Lane, Hartwell, Ga., died January 13, 2010 at Hartwell Healthcare Center.

Born September 2, 1928 in Scranton, PA he was the son of the late Edwin Walter Long, Sr., and Mary Finan Long Baker. He was retired from Westinghouse Electric Corp. with 34 years of service. He was of the Catholic Faith and was a member of the Hartwell Golf Club. Mr. Long was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran serving in Europe and the Korean War.

He is survived by; wife, Celia Palmatier Long of the home, sons, Edwin Long III and his wife LouAnn of Monticello, FL, Patrick Long of Naples FL, Richard Long and his wife Joni of Naples, FL, daughter, Kathleen Alden and her husband Rob of Woodstock, GA, step-son, Timothy Bartlett of Erin N.Y.; eight grandchildren Jeremy Long, Garrett Long, Ryan Long, Justine Long, Robbie Long, Victoria Long, Lindsay Alden and Jordan Alden also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Percy J. Baker, first wife, Irene Slocum Long, sister, Gloria Wilson and step-son, Michael Bartlett.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. from the Hartwell First United Methodist Church. Dr. R. Allen Stewart and Father Walter Foley will officiate. The family will receive friends after the service.
