Mr. Luther Edwin Smith, age 62 of 41 Smith Rd., Bowersville, Ga., died Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Hospice of the Upstate, Anderson, S.C.

Born February 2, 1945 in Franklin County, he was the son of the late William Luther Smith and Jewel Shiflet Smith. He was a retired truck driver and mechanic for Ford Lumber Company and was a member of the Flat Shoals Baptist Church.

He is survived by: wife, Margaret Holmes Smith of the home, sons, Luther R. Smith, Monroe, Ga., Perry J. Smith, Royston, Ga., and Edwin D. Smith, Dewy Rose, Ga., daughters, Elizabeth Hollingsworth, Dawn Smith, Maggie Smith and Jessica Smith, all of Bowersville, Ga., and Casey Smith of Royston, Ga., brother, Robert Lee Smith, Bowersville, Ga., sisters, Mary Helen Jones, McDonough, Ga., and Elton Gail Roach, Bowersville, Ga. Twenty grandchildren and two great-grandchildren survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 15, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. from the Hartwell Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Fugate and Rev. Kaggie Barrow will officiate. Interment will be in the Flat Shoals Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home-Hartwell Chapel. The family will be at the home, 41 Smith Road, Bowersville, Ga.
