Gone to Glory on August 4, 2008, Effie G. Baker Rumsey went home to be with the Lord after a long illness with Alzheimer's.
Born August 2, 1922 in Hart County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Sherman "Coon" Baker and Dessie Carnes Baker. She was retired from Hart County School System as a lunchroom worker.She was a member of Reed Creed Baptist Church, the Golden Agers and Nancy Hart Chapter #398 OES. Being reared by hard workings parents during the depression, she learned early the life long valves of dedication to God, devotion to family and hard work.She was a caregiver – caring and giving all her life.
She is survived by:Daughters, Shirley McDaniel and her husband Harry of Woodstock, GA and Gail Baldwin and her husband Billy of Fairburn, GA; Brother, Hoyt Baker of Hartwell, GA; Grandchildren, April and Keith Cruse, Kevin McDaniel, Andy and Julie Baldwin; Great grandchildren, Emily and Sarah Cruse, Abigail Chaffin, Andrew and Anna Baldwin also survive.She is preceded in death by her Parents; Husband, Cohen C. Rumsey; Daughter, Sandra R. Baldwin; Two grandchildren, Matthew Baldwin and Amy Baldwin.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at Reed Creek Baptist Church.Rev. Sam Dulaney will officiate.Burial will be in the Reed Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Wednesday night from 6 to 8:00 p.m.
