Mrs. Gloria Elaine (Mote) king, age 78, of Lavonia, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at her home.
Born April 5, 1936, in Lincolnton, GA, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Randolph Mote and Ruby Della (Garland) Mote. Prior to retirement, she worked in nursing, having last worked as a dietary nurse at Stephens County Hospital. She was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband: Richard King; children: Glenda Madden, Gail Silvey, Kenny Silvey and wife Terry, Shirley Meeks and husband Jim, Donald Silvey, and Gerald Silvey ; brother: Lamar Mote and wife Connie; sisters: Laverne Peppers and Melvina Collins; grandchildren: Chandra Dawson, Brandy Wood, Bryan Finch, Ashley Turner, Shelley Knight, Christy Hill, Ray Rickman, and Megan Dougherty; and eleven great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother: Harold Mote.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Meeks and Rev. Bruce McGee officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
