Eleanor Elizabeth Price Denman, "Dee Dee", 87, of Line Community, Lavonia, passed away Monday, October 2, 2017 at her home. Born March 26, 1930, in Franklin County, just ½ mile from her home, she was the daughter of the late Norman O. Price and Essie Stonecypher Price. She was the widow of the late Leon Dennis Denman, her husband of 65 years.
She attended Line School, and was a 1947 graduate of Lavonia High School. She attended North Greenville Jr. College for two years, Piedmont College and the University of Georgia. She was a much-loved schoolteacher for 41 years, having taught at Mt. Olivet, Bowersville, Toccoa City Schools, and Lavonia Elementary School.
She was a charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa's Beta Tau Chapter and was also a charter member of Fidelis Xi chapter of the honor society for teachers. She remained active in both Fidelis Xi and Franklin County Retired Teachers' Association until she was no longer able to attend.
She was an active, lifelong member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School Teacher, church librarian, and missions leader. She played a key role in the ministry of shoeboxes for Ukraine and Good News Club at Lavonia Elementary.
She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Judy and Keith Carter, Lavonia, Drs. Jane and Scott Kirkpatrick, Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Lee Carter and Paige, Ellen Kirkpatrick and fiancée Andy Soto, and Will Kirkpatrick; two great-granddaughters; a sister and her husband, Evelyn and Julian Yuille, and a loving extended family of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Flowers are optional; or memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.
