Obituary

Mrs. Eleanor Putnam Johnson, 86, of 730 Fairview Ave., Hartwell, died Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Hart Care Center.

Born on February 12, 1925 in Hartwell, GA, she was the daughter of the late Oliver G. Putnam and Mattie Whitmire Putnam.She was a retired machine operator for the Monroe Company and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

She is survived by four sons: Stephen Johnson and his wife, Carolyn, of Hartwell, Milton Johnson of Hartwell, Alan Johnson and his wife, Dee, of Hartwell, and Tracy Johnson and his wife, Laura, of Omaha, NE; ten grandchildren: Eric (Dannielle) Johnson, Stacie Sanders, Stefanie(Dean)Kellermier, Darby (Ashley) Johnson, Brenton Johnson, Derek Johnson, Paige (Ryan) Barrow, Lauren Johnson, Lindsey Johnson, Mary Kate Johnson; and eight great grandchildren: Breanna Bailey, Tanner Johnson, Abbie Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Carter Johnson, Luke Johnson, Anna Sanders, and Libby Sanders. Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Joel T. Johnson; and one sister: Edith Peugh.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Barry Brown and Rev. Terry Meeks officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday night.The family is at the home.Flowers are optional.Special memorials may be made out to Cornerstone Baptist Church, 1543 Anderson Hwy, Hartwell, GA 30643.
