Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson Bowers, 87, of Fairview Ave, Hartwell, died Saturday, November 01, 2014 at her home.
Born on May 30, 1927 in Hartwell GA, she was the daughter of the late Barnet Johnson and Eunice Cook Johnson.Mrs. Bowers retired from Hart EMC as a bookkeeper after 47 years of service and was an active member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son: Bill Bowers and his wife Jan of Hartwell; a brother: Cook Johnson of Anderson SC; five grandchildren: Mandy Bowers, Tonya Hayes, Kevin Bowers, Jake Bowers and Jarrett Bowers; six great grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Bowers was preceded in death by her husband: Braxton R. Bowers; a son: Kenneth "Kenny" Bowers; two brothers: Joel Johnson and Bennie Max Johnson and six sisters: Myrtie Mae McCollum, Claudia Lee Richardson, Reba Vickery, Ruth Brown, Reatha Brown and Clara Jean Johnson.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 3, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church with Dr. R. Allen Stewart and Rev. Barry Brown officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night.The family is at the home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hartwell First United Methodist Church Window Fund or Music Fund, 200 E. Howell Street, Hartwell GA 30643.
