Mrs. Elizabeth Reynolds Weatherly, age 90, of Lavonia died Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Stephens County Hospital.
Born June 13, 1919, in Selma, Al, she was the daughter of the late Edward Harper Reynolds & Lallie Mae Holston Reynolds. She was a graduate of Selma High School and attended Montevallo University. She retired from the Franklin County Citizen after 29 years of service. Mrs. Weatherly was a member of Lavonia First Baptist Church since 1961 and served as the pianist for the primary department for 19 years. She served the church in the Birthday Phone Call Ministry and was a member of the Faith Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, charter member of the Lavonia Lioness Club, member of the Lavonia Carnegie Library Board, and the Lavonia Women's Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Addison Weatherly; and brother: James Edward Reynolds, Sr.
She is survived by daughter: Lallie Julia Douglas of Flowery Branch; sons: William L. Weatherly of Huntsville, AL & Joe E. Weatherly of Cookeville, TN; grandchildren: William Hunter Weatherly, Dane Elizabeth Anderson, William B. Weatherly, Mary Addison Yates, Carter R. Weatherly, David J. Weatherly, Christina L. Weatherly, Allen H. Douglas III, & Elizabeth Bolling Douglas; and great-grandchildren: Evan Joshua Anderson, Zoey Lynn Anderson, & Elizabeth Caroline Weatherly.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25, 2009 at the Lavonia First Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Finger and Rev. Chris Chitwood officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. (CST) Friday, November 27, 2009 at Old Live Oak Cemetery in Selma, AL.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
