Mrs. Elizabeth Sadler McCurry Myers Williams, age 88 of 30 East Howell St., Hartwell, Ga., died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Hart County Hospital.
Born November 30, 1919 in Hartwell, Ga., she was the daughter of the late William Baird McCurry and Mae Lilly Teasley McCurry. She was a graduate of Hart County High School and Brenau College. She was a former accountant for AT&T in Atlanta, a homemaker and the DAR. She married to the late Dr. T. Cecil Myers, a Methodist minister who served a number of congregations in the North Georgia Conference including, Brookhaven UMC, Atlanta GA; Trinity UMC, Atlanta GA; Sam Jones UMC, Cartersville GA; Grace UMC, Atlanta GA; First UMC, Athens GA andPeachtree Road UMC, Atlanta GA. While in Athens she served as president of the United Methodist Women of the Athens-Elberton District. Upon retirement they moved to her family home in Hartwell, where she was born, and later became tour guides taking tourists on trips to China, Australia, The Holy Land, Egypt, England, Russia, the British Isles, Europe and Scandinavia.She was a member of the Hartwell Women's Club, Hartwell First United Methodist Church, UMW, May Lilly McCurry Circle and the John Holland SS Class.
She is survived by her husband: Dr. Charles R. Williams of the home; sons: William T. "Bill" Myers and his wife Beverly of Orlando FL, Charles J. Myers and his wife Renee of North Augusta SC, five grandchildren: Morgan, Elizabeth, John, Will and Jackson Myers. She was preceded in death by her parents, and first husband, Dr. T. Cecil Myers.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 17, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. from the sanctuary of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church. Dr. R. Allen Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow in the Northview Cemetery.The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Monday.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel, where the family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm. The family will be at their respective homes.
