Mrs. Ellen Evans McGee, age 77 of 505 Laurel Dr., Hartwell Ga., died Saturday, October 21 at her home.

Born on October 18, 1929 in Hart County Georgia, she was the daughter of the late George Isham Evans Sr. and Christine Howard Evans.She was retired from C & S National Bank, Hartwell.She was a member of the Hartwell First United Methodist Church, Live Wire SS Class, Mae Lily McCurry Circle of the UMW, Sojourners and was an Office volunteer.

Survivors include her three daughters: Gail Manter and her husband Tom of Hartwell, Angie Gurley and her husband Jim of Hartwell and Jana McGee and her husband Bill of Hartwell; a twin brother: Henry Evans of Hartwell and two grandsons: Josh Gurley of Hartwell and Jim Gurley Jr. of Commerce.She was preceded in death by her husband: Theron Owen McGee and four brothers: Howard Evans, George I. Evans Jr., Robert Lee Evans and John Wesley Evans.

Funeral services will be Monday, October 23 at 4:00 p.m. Hartwell First United Methodist Church with Dr. R. Allen Stewart, Rev. Jim Winn and Rev. Beau Swafford officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.The body will be placed in the church at 3:30 p.m. Monday.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home – Hartwell Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night.The family is at the home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hartwell First United Methodist Church Building Fund, 200 W.
