Mrs. Ellen Pruitt Whitlow, 90, of 6091 West Avenue, Lavonia, Ga., died March 2, 2008 at Doctor's Hospital of Augusta. She was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church.
A native of Franklin County, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Broughten Whitlow, her parents, Ruth Little Pruitt and Benjamin Pruitt, Sr., and four brothers.
Mrs. Whitlow retired as Office Manager from the Hart County EMC, Hartwell, Georgia, after over 50 years of continuous service. She was former President of the Hart County Business and Professional Women's Club, former Director of Hartwell Credit Women International, and former President of Lavonia Lioness Club.
Surviving are a daughter: Ruth Whitlow Mitcham and husband, Michael, of Lexington, NC; a son: Dr. Michael L. Whitlow and wife, Dr. Cheryl N. Whitlow, of Augusta, GA; four grandchildren: David M. Mitcham and wife, Kelly, Michael B. Whitlow, John Allen Whitlow, & Benjamin R. Whitlow; and a great-granddaughter: Natalee Ruth Mitcham.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will be in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4 at the funeral Home.
