Mr. Ellis D. Foster, age 82 of 805 Fairview Ave., Hartwell, GA., died June 30, 2008 at his home.

Born October 11, 1925 in Darren, GA, he was the son of the late Roy L. Foster and Fannie Norton Foster.He was a Graduate of Piedmont College and the University of Georgia. He retired as City Administrator after 18 years for the City of Hartwell.He was a former Teacher, Coach and Principal in the Greene County Schools from 1949 – 1971.Then in 1971 to 1977 he was Principal at Hart County Jr. High School. He was a member of Hartwell First Baptist Church, Hartwell Golf Club, and a U.S. Army WWII Veteran serving in the European Theater.

He is survived by:Wife, Elaine Hunt Foster of the home; Daughters, Kathie McCurley and her husband Eddie of Hartwell, GA and Sandy Carlton and her husband John of Hartwell, GA; Son, Phil Foster and his wife Angie of Hartwell, GA; Brother, Roy Norton Foster of Buford, GA; Five grandchildren, Liza Dickson, Erin McCurley, Jack Foster, Hank Carlton and Meg Carlton; One great grandchild, Noah Dickson.He is preceded in death by his Parents; Brothers, John Foster, Harold Foster and Frank Foster; and a Sister, Frances McClure.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Dr. F. Hugh Kirby and Dr. Steve Williams will officiate.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Rev. Carter Tucker officiating.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Wednesday morning from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to the service.
