Mrs. Eloise Duck Chitwood, 91, of Cunningham Dr, Hartwell, peacefully passed away, Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Hart Care Center.

Born on April 16, 1922 in Franklin County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Rev. H.M. Duck and Eva Belle Loftis Duck.Mrs. Chitwood formerly worked at Elberton Manufacturing Co, Bell Craft Manufacturing Company, and retired from the Heritage Inn Nursing Home where she was a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was a member of Mt. Olivet Church of God.

Survivors include her husband of 76 years, Hoyt L. Chitwood; three sons: Thomas Chitwood and his wife Brenda, Joe Chitwood and his wife Peggy, and Ronnie Chitwood and his wife Barbara all of Hartwell; three daughters: Winona Evans and her husband Jack of Winterville, GA, Polly Cordell and her husband Tom, and Peggy Skelton both of Hartwell; a brother, Bethel Duck of Clayton, GA; thirteen grandchildren; thirty-eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Chitwood was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Echota Chitwood; two sisters: Janice White and Louise Duck; and a grandchild, Lisa Cordell.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Jerry Chitwood, Rev. Wayne Durden and Rev. Gary Ledford officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends on Tuesday night from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.The family is at their respective homes.
