Mrs. Elsie Holmes Blackmon, 98, of 261 Fairview Avenue, Hartwell, GA, died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Hart Care Center.

Born August 4, 1910 in Elbert County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Leonard "Buck" Holmes and Carrie Hunt Holmes.She was retired from Hartwell Mfg as a Seamstress.She was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church.

He is survived by:Sons, Jimmy Blackmon and his wife Janie of Canon, GA, Joel Blackmon and his wife Kathy of Canon, GA and Jackie Blackmon of Canon, GA; Eleven grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren also survive.She is preceded in death by Parents; Husband, James A. Blackmon; Daughter in law, Margie Dobbs Blackmon; Brother, Bodie Holmes; Sister, Gertrude H. Robinson and Two grandchildren, Randall Schultz and Andrew Blackmon.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Rev. Joey Pless and Rev. Jack Evans will officiate.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Monday night from 6 – 8:00 p.m.The family is at their respective homes.Flowers are optional; Memorials may be made to Old Canon Baptist Church, 714 Sunset Road, Canon, GA30520.
