Obituary
Mr. Elton A. Payne Sr, 64, of Bowersville, passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Piedmont Hospital, Atlanta.
Born on December 30, 1955 in Anderson, SC, he was the son of the late Fred C. Payne and Grace Caudell Payne.Mr. Payne was a poultry farmer and school bus driver for the Hart County School System. He also attended Abundant Life Baptist Church. Mr. Payne loved playing all kinds of stringed instruments, and ran sound systems for bluegrass festivals.
He is survived by his son: Elton Payne Jr. and his wife Tara of Iva, SC and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Payne is preceded in death by his parents; twin brother: Alton E. Payne; and sister: Martha Jo Payne DiMarco.
Graveside services for Mr. Elton Payne will be held Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ken Brewer officiating. Everyone will be asked to practice Social Distancing and may want to bring a lawn chair.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd, Anderson, SC 29621.
The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
