Mrs. Emma Ruth (Fulghum) Eskew, age 88, of Lavonia, died Monday, April 6, 2015 at her home following an extended illness.
Born January 29, 1927, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Vernon Fulghum and Lula Leonia (Smith) Fulghum. She retired from Lavonia Manufacturing as a machine operator. Mrs. Eskew was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and the Gleaners Sunday School Class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Andrew Bryant "A.B" Eskew; sister: Mildred Smith; brothers: Robert Vernon Fulghum, Jr. and Alton Fulghum; grandchildren: Sheri McKern and SSgt. Anthony Guest; and sons-in-law: Jack Poole and Grady Patrick.
She is survived by son: Tommy Eskew; daughter: Barbara Poole Patrick, daughters-and sons-in-law: Joy and Dewey McKern, Janice and Sonny Guest, and Andrea and Roy Lunsford; brothers: Coy Fulghum and Billy Fulghum; sisters: Geneva Jones, Clara Edmonds, and Patricia Gunnell; grandchildren: Troy Poole, Kemberly Copeland, Shawn Guest, Tara Rice, TSgt. Ronald E. Rice, Amber Burkett, and Amanda Eskew; and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. John Forbes and Rev. Josh Harvill officiating. Mrs. Eskew will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North with Rev. Mike Petty officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
