Eric Jasper Elrod, 87, of Lavonia, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born January 25, 1931, in Stephens County, he was the son of the late Will and Katie (Kay) Elrod. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a Volkswagen mechanic by trade with Metter VW prior to his retirement. Mr. Elrod was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, where he served for many years as a deacon and AWANA worker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson: Ryan Roberts; brothers: Clarence Elrod, Harold Elrod, Olly Elrod, George Elrod, and James Elrod.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years: Margaret Ann (Owens) Elrod of the home; son & daughter-in-law: Tim & Kathy Elrod of Martin; daughter & son-in-law: Teresa & Reggie Anderson; grandsons: Justin Roberts, Matthew Roberts, and Jason Elrod; sisters: Jean Frost and Helen Adams; and several great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. John Forbes officiating. A private burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 1:30 p.m. until the service.
