Obituary

Ernest Victor "Poppy" Pinter, age 91, of Lavonia, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born August 27, 1929, in New Brunswick, NJ, a son of the late Joseph and Lydia Pinter. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was of the Baptist faith. He was the owner of Pinter Door Sales in South Brunswick, NJ for forty five years before retiring to Weaverville, NC in 1997 and Lavonia in 2017. Although he was proud of his career and his military service, his last and most treasured job title was Best Poppy Ever, hunter, golfer, and fixer of everything. Mr. Pinter will be remembered as a loving husband, doting father, and adoring grandfather.
His granddaughter, Cassandra, had this to say of her grandfather "Cause I thought he walked on water… There are no words great enough for you, no words can explain the wonderful life you lived, no words for how much everyone (and I mean every freaking one!) loved you... you worked so hard for your family, you taught us all strength, honesty and loyalty... you will never be forgotten, your lessons will never be forgotten, you will live on through each of us! RIP my Poppy, we'll take it from here.... I love you, I love you, I love you... Godspeed..... I'll be seeing you...."
He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Lynn Harding Pinter; daughter: Lynn Pinter Fenske (Sean); son: Matthew Pinter; grandchildren: Morgan Fenske, Cassandra Fenske, and Clinton Fenske; brother: Emil Pinter; and four great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by eleven brothers and sisters.
The family will plan a celebration of life at a later date. Mr. Pinter was cremated in accordance with his request. To sign the online guest register and leave personal condolences to the family, please visit stricklandfh.com.
