Mrs. Ethel Hendrix Harris, age 83, formerly of Lavonia, died Tuesday, December 16 at Hart Care Center.
Born July 22, 1925, in Hart County, she was the daughter of the late Lewis Calman Hendrix and Beatrice Roper Hendrix. She was a retired textile employee with Armstrong Manufacturing. She was a member of the Lavonia Church of God.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: John Henry Harris; granddaughter: Jacqueline Renee Eller; brother: Clarence Hendrix; sisters: Geneva Smith, Elizabeth Sanders, Rachel Cawthon, and Willie Mae Goss.
She is survived by children: Gerald Harris & Susan of Lavonia, Linda Crowe & James of Lavonia, Tim Harris & Brenda of Lavonia, Jackie Harris & Kathy of Palm Bay, FL, and Johnny Harris of Lavonia; grandchildren: Missy Harris Brown, James Ray Eller, Chris Harris, Peter Harris, Sonja Harris Cheek, Angie Harris, and Joshua Harris; seven great-grandchildren; 1 great—great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2008 at the Lavonia Church of God with Revs. Tyrone Hutchinson and Courtney Umbehant officiating. Burial will follow in the Lavonia City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lavonia Church of God, World Missions Department, 110 Bear Creek Road, Lavonia, GA 30553.
