Obituary

Mrs. Ethel Alewine Smith, 91, of West Main Street, Bowersville, died Monday, August 11, 2014 at Brown Health and Rehab in Royston, Ga.

Born on February 10, 1923 in Hartwell GA, she was the daughter of the late Callie Andrew Alewine and Malissa Higginbotham Alewine.She was retired from Hartwell Mills as a weaver and was a member of Bowersville Baptist Church.

Survivors include a care giver: Amy Burns and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband T.J Smith; five brothers: Clifford, Clarence, Roy, Luther, and Denver Alewine; six sisters: Myrtie Pearson, Maude Myerholtz, Willie Mae Myerholtz, Clara Scoggins, Mozelle Cleveland and Thelma Ethridge.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Dan Bailey officiating.Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Martin with Rev. Malcolm Herndon officiating..

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.The family is at the home of Rev. Dan Bailey, 218 Phillips Circle, Royston, GA.
