Mr. Eugene E. "Gene" Booth, 84, of 81 Mr. John's Choice Rd, Hartwell, peacefully passed away Thursday, August 29, 2013 at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Born in Waseca, Minnesota, he was the son of the late Roy Allen Booth and Myrtle Johnson Booth. Gene was a U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict.He was a long-standing active member of the American Legion #109, Hart County Golden K, Knights of Columbus and a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary-Jean Booth of the home; three sons: Steven Booth of Indianapolis, IN, David Booth of Mechanicsville, VA, Ronald Booth of Dallas, GA; two daughters: Cheryl Kendrick of Weaverville, NC, Suzanne Dixon of Ball Ground, GA; twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Gracelyn Ansell.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Rafael Castano officiating.A reception will follow in the church Founders Hall.
