Mrs. Eunice Weaver Ray, 92, of 84 Billie J. Ray Drive, Canon, died Tuesday, May 24, at Hartwell Health Care Center.
Born on August 28, 1918 in Hart County GA, she was the daughter of the late Luke Weaver Sr. and Nealor Hilley Weaver.She was retired from the Hartwell Garment Company and the Hartwell Sun.She was a faithful and loving helpmate to her husband on the family farm.She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church, having been a Christian since the age of 16.She was also a member of the Joy Club at Bethany, having enjoyed many trips and good fellowship with the group.
Survivors include her son, Donald Ray and his wife Sandra of Canon; two daughters, Joyce R. Ashworth of Canon and Peggy R. Curley and her husband Mark of Pensacola FL; a brother, Luke Weaver Jr. of Canon; a sister, Peggy Kay and her husband Floyd Jr. of Canon; five grandchildren, Bruce Ashworth, Brian Ashworth, John Ray and his wife Clare, Mary Allen and her husband Jeff and Quentin Curley; four great grandchildren, Adam Ashworth, Autumn Ashworth, Truman Ray and Makennah Allen also survive.Mrs. Ray was preceded in death by her Parents; husband, Billie J. Ray; a brother, Howard Weaver and five sisters, Ruby Nell Brown, twin sister Bernice Pressley, Delrea "Bill" Cleveland, Nina Lee Bryson and Elizabeth Kelley.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 26 at 4:00 p.m. at the Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Durham and Rev. Luther Thomason officiating. Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home prior to the service.The family is at their respective homes.Flowers optional, memorials may be made to Odyssey Health Care, 855 Gaines School Rd, Suite G, Athens GA30605.
