Obituary

Mrs. Eva Bowen Stamey, 100, of 101 Woodlake Drive, Hartwell, died Friday, March 25, 2011 at her home.

Born on June 12, 1910 in Franklin County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Warren Bowen and Ida Kinzey Bowen. She was a Habersham County High School teacher, and a member of many organizations including the John Benson Chapter UDC, Hartwell Chapter DAR, Pine Tree Garden Club of Hartwell, life member of the Rhododendron Garden Club of Clayton, GA, and a National Accredited Flower Show Judge.She was also a member of Hartwell First United Methodist Church where she attended the Live Wire Sunday School Class and the Wesley Page Circle UMW.

She is survived by her son: Elliott Stamey of Walterboro, SC; and one grandson: Glen Stamey of Lexington, SC. Mrs. Stamey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Leon Stamey; one son: Lamar Stamey, and was the last surviving member of her brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be Sunday, March 27, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the First Baptist Church Cemetery, Clayton, GA.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday prior to the service.The family is at their respective homes.
