Mrs. Jeanette Eva (Whiten) Wilson, age 90, of Lavonia, died Friday, January 2, 2009 at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
Born September 18, 1918, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Whiten and Mamie Hester (Thomas) Whiten. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Wilson was a member of Fairview Baptist Church, where she was formerly active with the ladies ministries.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Jessie J. Wilson; brothers: Clarence Whiten and Clyde Whiten; and grandsons: Mike Roberts, Dale Roberts, Randy Wilson, and Tony Wilson.
She is survived by her daughter: Alma Wilson Roberts of Lavonia; sons: Glen V. Wilson of Lavonia, Butch Wilson of Hartwell, Jesse Wilson, Jr. of Royston, Ted R. Wilson of Carnesville, Ray D. Wilson of Elberton, & W. Cecil Wilson of Westminster, SC; sisters: Velma Bagwell of Martin and Ella Ruth Rumbaugh of Virginia; 28 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2009 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Britt Ginn officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
