Evelyn Hendricks

Mrs. Evelyn Eugenia Poole Hendricks, age 79, of Lavonia, formerly of Duluth, passed away Friday, October 9, 2026, at her home, following a brief battle with cancer.

Born October 26, 1946, in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Jewel Bailey Poole. Mrs. Hendricks worked in risk management for The Salvation Army for 53 years prior to her retirement. Her faith was an important part of her life. The Salvation Army wasn't just a job; it was her passion.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Sherrel Lane Hendricks; sister, Joyce Orvas; and brothers, Lamar Poole, Murphy Poole, and Jimmy Poole.

She is survived by her daughter, Angela Hendricks of Lavonia; sisters, Patsy Hambrick (Larry) of Rogers, AR and Wendy Canfield of Lavonia; and many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at The Salvation Army Gwinnett County Corps with Captain Carla Raymer officiating. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Haw Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Cumming with Major Sandra Pawar officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Flowers are optional or donations can be sent to The Salvation Army Gwinnett County Corps, 3455 Sugarloaf Pkwy, Lawrenceville, GA 30044.
