Mrs. Evelyn Holcomb Sanders, 88, of Hartwell, passed away Monday, December 23, 2019 at Hartwell Health & Rehab.

Born on May 21, 1931 in Lavonia GA, she was the daughter of the late William Holcomb and Mary Bradley Holcomb.Mrs. Sanders was retired from Newton Mills and a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Forever Young and former choir member.

Survivors include her sons: Arlen Holcomb (Caryn) of Eastanollee GA and Jimmy Sanders (Sandra) of Bowersville GA; a daughter: Ann Skelton Pitts (Ken) of Winder GA; a sister: Emily H. Mahoney of Hartwell GA; a brother: Tom Holcomb of Abbeville GA; eight grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive.Mrs. Sanders was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Earl "Early" Sanders; six brothers: Ralph Holcomb, Swain Holcomb, Winfred Holcomb, John Hoyt Holcomb, Roy Holcomb and George Holcomb and three sisters: Louise H. Wood, Retha H. Bowers and Pat H. Barrett.

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Other times the family will be at their respective homes.

Funeral services for Mrs. Evelyn Sanders will be held Sunday, December 29, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Webb and Rev. Caleb Bond officiating.Burial will be in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery.
