Mr. Eves Joseph "Hoot" Morvant, 77, of Cokesbury Church Rd, Hartwell, died Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center.

Born on July 3, 1936 in Thibodaux, LA, he was the son of the late Eves Clarence Morvant and Lucia Usey Morvant.Mr. Morvant was a retired machinist for the US Navy Shipyard in Philadelphia, PA, was a US Navy Veteran having served in the Korean War, and was of the Catholic Faith.

Survivors include his wife, Sara White Morvant; a brother, Warren A. Morvant, Sr. of Schriever, LA; a sister, Shirley M. Davis of Schiever, LA; and several nieces and nephews.Mr. Morvant was preceded in death by his parents; a son, David Morvant; and two brothers: Curtis J. Morvant, Sr. and Charleton J. Morvant.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Burial will be in the Sardis Baptist Church cemetery.

The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends on Saturday from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm just prior to the service.
