Mr. Farris Edward Bowers, 82, of Farris Dr., Hartwell, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.

Born on August 8, 1931 in Hartwell GA, he was a son of the late William Nathaniel Bowers and Mamie Welborn Bowers.He was a retired E-5 Staff Sergeant with the US Air Force serving in the Korean and Vietnam War. He was a member of the DAV, American Legion and VFW. He was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife: Christine Maddox Bowers; four sons: Dwain Bowers and his wife Karen of Hartwell, Stephen Bowers and his wife Wanda of Anderson, SC, Nathan Bowers of Fountain Inn, SCand Glenn Bowers and his wife Brenda of Ware Shoals, SC;one sister: Hilda Mauldin of Hartwell ; nine grandchildren and four step grandchildren; three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter: Carolyn Bowers and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
