Mrs. Alice Faye Davis Tye, age 80, of Lavonia passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the Hope Memory Care Center, Fayetteville, GA.
Born August 5, 1938 in Lafollette, TN, she was the daughter of the late Edgar G. and Sarah Emily (Steele) Davis. Prior to retirement she worked as bank teller with Peoples Bank in Lafollette, Trust Company Bank, and Wachovia in Atlanta. She was a member of Lavonia First Baptist Church, the Lavonia Women's Club, the Lavonia Welcome Neighbors, a volunteer for the Land of Spirits Folk Life Play and she was past President of the Pilot Club of Lavonia. She and her husband Hank were named 2013 Citizens of the Year by the Lavonia Chamber of Commerce.
She is survived by sons and daughters in-law: Gary and Faye Tye of Brooks, GA; Rick and Lucinda Tye of Panama City, FL; sisters and brother: Joyce Davis of Maryville, TN; MaryAnn Treace of Lavonia, GA, and Charles Davis of Columbia, SC. grandchildren: Joey Tye, Jessica Norman, Stephanie Fischer and Cassidy Tye; great-grandchildren: Joleigh Tye, Kaleigh Tye, Chloe Allen and Reagan Allen.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday , October 12, 2018 in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Dr. Larry Finger officiating. The family will receive friends 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to A Greater Lavonia Community, Inc., 1269 E. Main St. Lavonia, GA 30553.
