Mrs. Faye Hagan Ward, age 68, of 259 Shubert Road, Hartwell, GA, wife of the late Buddy Ward, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Born June 27, 1941, in Statesboro, GA, she was the daughter of the late: Wallace & Doris (Hughes) Hagan. Before her retirement, she worked as an international investment banker with The Robinson-Humphrey Company, Inc. Faye was a very active volunteer for the Hart County Community and was a past Community Volunteer of the Year. She was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church including the UMC Building Committee, The Joyful Sunday School Class, The Women's Bible Study Group, and various other committees.Faye designed and gifted FUMC with the FUMC Prayer Garden fronting Howell Street in Honor of her mother, Doris Hughes Hagan.
Faye was the First President of the NE Georgia Master Gardeners Association. She was instrumental in the vision for the Hart County Botanical Gardens and was a leader in its development.She was on the HCBG Board of Directors and was Chairman of the Children's Garden. Faye was past Chairman of the Board of NE Georgia Council on Domestic Violence, co-founded the Hart Haven Thrift Store, and chaired and coordinated many fundraising events over her many years of service including the Polar Bear Plunge, 10+ years directing the Haunted House Woods and Forest, and fundraising drives to obtain and support a safe house for the community.
Faye is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Amanda & Randy Naser of Atlanta, GA and Melynda & Rufus Wakeman of Jensen Beach, FL; and four grandchildren: Lauren Cameron Naser, Maryna Deere Wakeman, Jazie Deere Wakeman, & Marlin Deere Wakeman.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church with Dr. R. Allen Stewart and Rev. Troy Ayers officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Opening Doors Building Fund or to the Prayer Garden Memorial Trust Fund in memory of Faye H. Ward, c/o Hartwell First United Methodist Church, 200 E.
