Feilisha Teasley Kay, age 78, peacefully passed away Thursday, October 10, 2024, at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital.
She was born on August 5, 1946, as the beloved daughter of the late Velvet and Lula Graham Teasley and was a lifelong resident of Lavonia. Feilisha's educational journey led her to graduate from Franklin County High School and Trade School. Her dedication to her career was evident as she devoted more than forty years of service to Oxford & Lanier Clothing before her retirement. Known for her friendliness and compassion, her trademark smile left a lasting impact on all that she encountered. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Paul Kay, and her brother, Rufus Teasley.
Feilisha found immense joy in the fellowship of her cherished breakfast club at Silo Café and later at Bojangles. She also maintained her vitality and spirit through active participation with friends in the Silver Sneakers group. Her deep faith was a cornerstone of her life, and she was a devoted member of the Cleveland CME Church in Martin.
She leaves behind a loving family to honor her memory, including her son, Rufus Kay and daughter, Paula Kay; her grandchildren, Monique Tookes and Monet Kay; her great-granddaughter, Maverick Smith; nephews: Tony Kay, Richard (Devi) Barnett, Onassis (Rashieda) Kay; great nieces & nephews: Jacinta Baskins, Jarvis Baskins, Yazmin Barnett, QuaVadas Kay, Richard Barnett, II & Kairo Kay; special children: Jerry & Sheila Grant, Paul & Stephanie Simpson, Rev. Jim & Kelsey Allen, Jan Robinson, Sarah & Ronnie Jackson, Tonya Tookes Kay; special cousins: Ronnie Graham, Paul Graham, Annie Elizabeth Teasley, Rev Ann Johnson, Joyce Teasley; & numerous relatives in Teasley, Graham, Dortch, & Montgomery Families; special neighbors: Diane Lumpkin, Yvette Lumpkin, Bobby Johnson & Johnson Family, Crystal & Chanda Lofton, Lucinda Carson; Special friends: Gail Manley, Margie Shealer, Sandra Mayfield, Betty Brown, David & Drusilla Ramsey, Thomas & Betty Richie, Leron & Sarah Johnson, Candance Jones, Thurley Mangrum; Members of Cleveland CME Church; Breakfast Club: (Debbie, Pat, Clay, Carol, Winky, Cindy & Donnie); Silver Sneakers group: (Christina, Thurley, Cheryl, Mary B., Betty T., Terrell, Mary B, Marvin, Betty B., Stephen, Barbara, Jody, Carol, Jane, Paul, Norma, Theresa, Maxine, Janie, Mary S, Nancy, Kay); Hill's Exxon- Russell & Team; as well as a host of dear friends and extended family members.
A celebration of Feilisha's life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 19, 2024, at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Keith Smith officiating and Rev. Jim Allen ministering. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Cleveland CME Church Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
