Obituary

Flora Ellen (Smith) Beggs, age 75, of 4195 Airline-Goldmine Road, Canon, GA, died Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at her home.
Born July 23, 1940 in Martin, she was the daughter of the late Mearman Smith and Nellie (Maret) Smith. She was a member of Redwine United Methodist Church. She and her late husband, Sammy Beggs, owned and operated Beggs Food City for 20 years and worked in the poultry business for many years.
She is survived by her daughter: Angie Shirley of Canon; sons: Kenneth Beggs and wife Betty, Steve Beggs and wife Tammy, and David Beggs all of Canon; brother: Hugh Smith of Morrow; four grandchildren, three step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sisters: Rachel Cobb, Opal Allen, and Juanita Roach.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015 at Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Pittman officiating. Burial will follow in Redwine United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour. At other hours the family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Redwine United Methodist Church, 1213 Farm Rd. Canon, GA 30520.
