Frances Eloise Elam Orowski, of Lavonia, passed away peacefully at her home in Gumlog on Saturday evening, December 6, 2025, at the remarkable age of 101.
Born on October 4, 1924, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Frances was the daughter of the late Ed and Rose Foster Elam. From an early age, she displayed a profound love for music. Her passion led her to study diligently, and she became an accomplished opera singer, gracing audiences with her talent as part of the New York Opera. Frances's love for music extended beyond performance; she inspired many through her teaching of piano and voice, nurturing the talents of countless students. Fran was a soloist at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Atlanta with Norman McKenzie and was a member of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra Chorus with conductor, Robert Shaw.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stanley Orowski, Sr.; her sisters, Rosalee Bonnin and Jan Felk; and her brothers, Douglas Elam and Bill Elam. Her legacy continues through her surviving family: her sons, Stan Orowski, Jr. (Ann) of Rome, GA, and Dan Orowski (Joyce) of Lavonia, GA; her daughter, Helen Orowski of Chamblee, GA; and her cherished grandchildren, Brandon Williams, Grace Orowski, Soloman Danziger, and Zada Danziger; and one great granddaughter: Zoie Rose Collier.
The graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 13, 2025, at the Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery.
