Mrs. Frances Louise Kay Cheek, 90, of Bethany-Bowersville Road, Canon, passed away Monday, September 10, 2018 at her home.

Born on October 27, 1927 in Hartwell GA, she was the daughter of the late George H. Kay and Annie Ruth Craft Kay.Mrs. Cheek was formerly employed by the Hartwell Garment Company, Sky City, and Vend Food Services at Johnson & Johnson. She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church where she served as nursery worker for over 20 years, a member of the Choir, WMU, Joy Club and was a Girls Auxiliary Leader.She also was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary #5897.

Survivors include her children: Joe Cheek (Christine), Steve Cheek, Jean Turner (Ronald), and Beth Epps (Dwayne) all of Canon; six grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.Mrs. Cheek was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Albert Cheek, Jr; six brothers: Joe Kay, John R. Kay, Kenneth Kay, George O. Kay, William Kay and Lamar Kay.Mrs. Cheek was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Durham and Rev. Luther Thomason officiating.Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.The family will be at the home of Beth and Dwayne Epps, 1746 Bethany-Bowersville Road, Canon, GA 30520. Flowers optional, memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 2085 Bethany-Bowersville Road Canon, GA 30520 or the charity of one's choice.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Amedisys Hospice and her personal caregiver Patsy Williams for the loving care she received during her declining health.
