Mrs. Frances Scott Teat, age 97, of Lavonia, passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018 while under the hospice care of Pruitt Health of Toccoa.
She was born January 30, 1921, in Hart County to the late Homer and Blanche (Heaton) Scott. She graduated from Hart County High School and retired from the Lavonia Sewing Center as a seamstress, when the business closed in 1984. She was a very active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church most of her life. Her favorite accomplishment was teaching the Single Young Ladies' Sunday School Class for 22 years.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Bob and Wanda Teat of Clayton, GA; a special granddaughter and her husband: Kay and Kirk Standridge of Commerce, GA; and a very special great-grandson: Braxton David Standridge of Commerce, GA.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Bobby McCay Teat, Sr., her oldest son: Billy Frank Teat; her brother: Fred Scott; and two sisters: Ruth Scott Herndon and Mozelle Scott Whitaker. She was the last surviving member of her siblings.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 2, 2018 in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Mike Smith and Rev. Josh Harvillofficiating. A private burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until the service. At other hours the family will be at their respective homes. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that contributions be made to the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund in memory of Frances Teat.
