Obituary
Mr. Frank A. Atkinson, 86, of 101 Alford Rd, Hartwell, died Friday, May 27 at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson.
Born on January 31, 1925 in Royston GA, he was the son of the late Arthur Valentine Atkinson and Cellie Jane Watson Atkinson.He was a retired Lab Technician from Clark – Schwebel of Anderson and of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his two daughters, Christine Welborn and her husband Charles of Hartwell and Susan Thomas and her husband Jim of Hartwell; a sister, Ruby Thomas of Lavonia; five grandchildren, Kevin Welborn, Caleb Welborn, Adam Thomas, Matt Thomas and Lori Thomas Bowen; three great-grandchildren, Alison, Katie and Zach Bowen also survive.Mr. Atkinson was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruby Iola Simpson Atkinson; a brother, Willie Atkinson and a sister, Ruth Carroll.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Chuck Smith officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Garden of Prayer.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night.The family is at the home of Susan and Jim Thomas, 101 Fisher Dr, Hartwell.
