Obituary

Mr. Frank Herring, 73, of 624 Milford Rd., Hartwell, died Tuesday, December 25 at his home.

Born on May 20, 1934 in Hart Co. GA, he was the son of the late Jess Washington Herring and Lilly Tempsie Hembree Herring.He retired from the Milliken – Gerrish Plant. Pendleton SC, as Plant Superintendent with 42 years of service.Mr. Herring was a member of the Nancy Hart Masonic Lodge # 690 and the Yarrab Shrine.He was a member of the Milltown Baptist Church, a deacon, served on various committees, choir director, sunday school teacher, former brotherhood director and former RA leader.

Survivors include his wife: Gail Perry Herring of the home; a daughter: Michelle Thompson and her husband Ronnie of Hartwell; two sons: Frankie Herring and his wife Betsy of Martinez GA & Freddie Herring and his wife Karen of Hawkinsville GA; three sisters: Mattie Lou Moore, Virginia Herring and Jessie Vickery all of Hartwell; eight grandchildren also survive.He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother: Charles Herring; half-brother: J.C. Herring; a sister: Elizabeth Farmer and a half-sister: Ruth Vickery.

Funeral service will be Friday, December 28 at 2:00 p.m. at the Milltown Baptist Church with Rev. Jack Sosby, Rev. Rubin Smith, Rev. Ray Black & Rev. Bruce Eaves officiating.Burial will be in the Milltown Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday night.The family is at the home.Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Milltown Baptist Church, 624 Milford Rd., Hartwell, GA 30643.
