Obituary

Mr. Jesse Frank Thomas, age 88, of 1745 N. Fairview Road – Lavonia, died Wednesday, September 5 at his home.
Born June 25, 1919, in Franklin County, he was a son of the late Dock and Lora (Whiting) Thomas. He was a farmer and retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Thomas was a member and former deacon of Fairview Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his parents; and sisters: Grace Thomas, Jimmie Cook, and Louise Medaline.
Survivors include wife of 61 years: Ruby (Atkinson) Thomas; daughter: Shirley Andrews of Lavonia; daughter and son-in-law: Jean and Bobby Watkins of Lavonia; granddaughter and grandson-in-law: Leigh and Bill Thomas of Lavonia; sister: Inez Terrell of Comer; and great-grandsons: Chance and Jesse Thomas of Lavonia.
The family is at the home and will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 7 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with the Revs. Bruce Moore, Paul Jameson, and Virgil Meirk officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church.
