Mr. Fred W. Cawthon, age 84, of Lavonia, died Wednesday, December 10, 2008 at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
Born May 7, 1924, in Lavonia, Georgia, he was a son of the late Manuel Creek Cawthon, Sr. and Lou Ella (Pruitt) Cawthon. He was a grocery store owner and operator as well as an insurance underwriter. Mr. Cawthon served in the US Army during WW II. He was a member of Lavonia First Baptist Church.
Mr. Cawthon is survived by his wife: Sue (Randall) Cawthon of the home; daughter and son-in-law: Joan and Rudy Warren of Dunwoody; 3 grandchildren: Susan Warren, Trent & Katy Warren, and Ansley Warren; sister: Mildred Williams of Toccoa; brother: James Cawthon of Lavonia.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister: Helen Whiten; and a brother: M. C. Cawthon, Jr.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 13 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Finger, Revs. Richard Bielski, and Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North.
